What is your worth?

Sooooo, the other day I was listening to a Podcast where the main topic called my attention, so obviously I am going to share with you guys. It spoke about how we determine our self-worth based on other people’s bodies or lives.

I’m not sure how many times I have mentioned that the power of our thinking has a lot to do with the way we live our lives, because life is lived from the inside out. We create our own self-worth based on how we see and speak to ourselves.

Self reflection.jpgMost of the time we measure our worth based on other people’s looks or achievements. There are tons of fitness models out there, with different body types, workout plans and meal plans. But something we need to realize is that most of these people have gone through a specific process, customized to their goal and body, to get to where they are. Some of these people train specifically for this photo shoot that we see on Instagram. There’s an extensive process that they have to go through to get to this level. 

I mentioned on my last post, Be The Best Version of Yourself, how I used to look up to other fitness models as my Body Goal, but I have realized that you have to set achievable goals based on your current status. Yes! Definitely look up to those women as a motivation, but never as your goal. Am I making sense? Set realistic goals while still having a bigger picture in mind.

There is a lot of work that goes behind most of those pictures we see. We tend to buy into this lie because this has become something that we see on a daily basis, which makes us start thinking, “Wow, look how perfect their body is, how happy they must be”, etc. When in reality, these people don’t look like that ALL the time. Again, you have to do a lot to get there, and it also takes a lot to maintain it.

It’s not something that is impossible to achieve, but understand that everyone has their own process, their own journey.

When we look at those people we usually think that they must be super popular, that they deserve more things than we do, we give them more value than we give ourselves. We then think, “wow she doesn’t have cellulite like me, she doesn’t have love handles”. Listen, you don’t know if those pictures are photoshopped, which they probably are. Whatever you’re thinking when you see these people, you need to stop it.Love yourself. Worth Spectrum

For all we know, these people go through dehydration and extreme dieting to get there. Is that really what you want? The goal should always be to be healthy while achieving your goal, not to kill yourself for just a few extra pounds.

The way you look can’t change what your worth is. You should never allow it to. You can’t capture true beauty in just one picture anyways, so stop feeling bad about yourself. They probably took thousands of pictures to get that one perfect one, lol I speak from experience.

You see on someone’s Instagram what they want you to see.

Limit the amount of time you spend looking through social media. Stop comparing yourself. Again, use them as a motivation but always having yourself as your role model, becoming your best self. Concentrate on your own journey, your progress, the things that you are overcoming and the person you are now becoming.

Dont Doubt your worthYour value lies in being who you are. We are each unique, you can’t deny the fact that you were created with a purpose. You were created to be who you are and what you are.

So stop trying to be like those other people. You just have to love yourself and you are the one who determines your worth. Stop thinking that you have to look a certain way to be happy, that you need a specific job to be successful or respected.

What stays in your life is what you tolerate and what you celebrate. Meaning, if you celebrate you, and your body, versus hating it and comparing it to others, then that’s what you’ll continue to get.

What do you celebrate about yourself? Even if it’s the smallest thing. If you can’t find one thing, then you need to make major changes. Make a list if you need to.

Start appreciating and celebrating your body for how it is, what it does for you.

Don’t tolerate any negative thinking or things into your life. The more you tolerate these things, the more they will be in your life.

Confidence, self-worth, self-love, starts from the inside out. This is what gives you the courage to go for the things you want, gives you the energy to live your own life. But it all starts from within and the way you think about yourself, the way you speak to yourself about your body, your personality, your attributes, your worth.

self worthStop rating yourself based on what other people look like, stop rejecting yourself or tolerating negativity into your life, and start embracing self-love, accept yourself, allow for your confidence to grow, and you’ll see how your life is going to change.

Your worth is found in you being you. Everyday ask yourself, did I love myself and those around me? If the answer is yes, then that’s all you need.

Love yourself today and always. Love Life. Live life. To the fullest.

Be the best version of yourself.

Becoming the best version of yourself is more than just reaching a health goal, it’s accepting and loving yourself at every stage, the high, middle and lows while working towards it.

One of the biggest mistakes we make while trying to do that is having other people as our “goal”. I use to be one of those who would always have a fitness model as my goal, but then when I didn’t even look close to them, I would find myself feeling disappointed and would give up. This made me realize that I should only set becoming my best self as my goal.

Becoming your strongest, healthiest, and happiest self should be your only goal. And for this you’ll need to accept and love yourself, at whatever stage you are at. 

If you set your goal to be like someone else, you will always be disappointed. Everyone is unique in their own way, therefore you will never have the same exact body as someone else, unless you get surgery, and that still might not work.

You are beautiful just the way you are, and working on becoming your best self will just make you even more beautiful. You will be able to see your progress and the growth you’ve made.  

Use others to motivate you, learn from the things they have done to get to where they are at, and adjust it to your own lifestyle. But never copy exactly what they do. What works for someone might not work for you. This goes with everything in life.

IMG_7911.jpgFocus on yourself and don’t spend any more energy on obsessing over other people’s body or lifestyle. Use that energy to build yourself up.

One of the things you have to do in order to start working on becoming the best version of yourself is changing your mindset. You have to be patient and understand that everyone has their own journey. You will go through struggles, will need lots of discipline and dedication, you’ll need to let go of any unhealthy habits or people who are holding you back, but one thing you can’t do is give up on yourself.

You deserve to reach whatever goals you set for yourself. You deserve to be the healthiest, strongest, and happiest person you’ve ever met. It won’t be easy, but it is soooo worth it.

Tips to spend a Healthier & Happier December

Ok guys. It is December 1st. We have officially entered the last month of the year. Holiday seasons has already started a few weeks ago, and staying strong during these days is a real test of your strength. Hope you behaved during Thanksgiving.

Healthier decemberI love December, because it is all about being cozy, decorating, time with family, love, and lots of FOOD. I LOVE eating!! 😂  I am Dominican so the food that we eat during the Holidays is just crazy delicious, but I won’t mention them so you don’t get hungry while reading.

Anywayyssss…. I am here to tell you that it is possible to make your December a bit healthier. Don’t worry, you won’t be skipping any of the amazing goodies. Also, some things to help you spend a happier Holiday Season with your family. I am all about Family, spending time with them, sharing memories, and what better time than the Holidays for that.

Here are a few tips:

  • Walk outside. Specially if you live in a state where you’re able to see all seasons, so you can enjoy the scenery. Unfortunately I live in Florida, so we don’t get to enjoy the pretty Holiday views, but we still have good weather to go out for a run. But if it’s too cold, just go for a quick walk around your neighborhood, through the park, take the kids, or walk your dog more often. It’s normal to lose some motivation to workout during the holidays, so this will give you peace, energy and a good quick workout.walk
  • Play some board games with the family. This is a great way to spend some quality time with your loved ones. If you don’t already, make it part of your Holiday tradition. This will have such a positive effect on your well-being. Board games
  • Snack on heathy foods often so that you don’t indulge in all the sweets. Of course, do not deny yourself the pleasure of Christmas treats, but snacking on healthy options often during the day will help you control those cravings. But have the cookie, it won’t hurt you. Having a treat in moderation is part of your healthy living.
  • Practice some meditation or yoga. We all know that this time of year can get a little stressful because of all the presents you need to buy, the cooking, people visiting, etc. So calm your mind with a little meditation, some yoga, read a book, anything that will help you take some time to sit and relax. Meditation
  • Squeeze in a short intense workout. Like I mentioned earlier, it is normal to lose motivation to go to the gym around this time, therefore doing a quick at home workout that doesn’t require much equipment will help tons. The short duration makes it easier to squeeze it in anywhere during your day.
  • Bake cookies with the family. You can start looking for healthier recipes starting now, so that you can spend some time with the family making these cookies. This is another great way to have fresh cookies, instead of store-bought, and to also spend quality time with your loved ones. Snacks
  • Lastly, but definitely the most important one, pray that you’ll get through it. You won’t believe the power there is in prayer. Share with God your fears, anxieties, and what you have planned each day, allow Him in and accept His peace.

Remember the reason for the season. Being around your loved ones. Focus on the people you love, spending as much time with them as possible.

Smile… it is contagious!

OMG guys!!! It is the last week of our How To Become more Confident journey, although this doesn’t mean I’ll stop posting about it 😉 But I really do hope that a lot of you have been able to follow the whole journey and have become the Confident Woman/Man that you were born to be.

Ok. So let’s get on with our last tip, very short and straight to the point, Smile! Yes, SMILE 🙂 and BIG!!

Don’t tell me those pictures didn’t just make you all fuzzy inside!! Too much cuteness. But that is the power of a smile. Sometimes we underestimate its power, but if there is one instant way to boost your confidence, it is by cracking a smile. There is a reason why God gave you those pearly whites. This will make you appear both confident and composed.

LaughJust by showing a small smile you can help any feelings of stress, so you immediately become happier and relaxed. And to triple that confidence, why don’t you go ahead and smile at that cute guy or girl you see on your morning commute, maybe it’ll even land you a date.

Trust me. It works. I feel instantly better when I smile, and you will too. It will also help you be kinder to others, which causes a chain reaction. Not a bad thing, right? Specially since our world needs that right now!!

Being kind to others and generous with yourself, your time and what you have, is a big way to improve your self-image. You start to feel good about yourself anytime you do an act of kindness.

Be KindWhen you smile at another person, a warm and genuine smile, you are letting them know that they are pleasant, likeable, safe, secure. A smile is so powerful that it can transform a person with low self-confidence.

So what are you waiting for? Get out there and start smiling at people. Every morning when you are on your way to work, to school, when you leave to go home, when you’re ordering something at the drive through window, or the front desk cashier, just smile at everyone, for NO reason. Ask them how their day is/was, how they are doing. You will see you how you will light up a smile in them too. You will feel happy and they will feel happy.

SMILE! 🙂

CHANGE YOUR MINDSET, CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

What a powerful thing to say or even think about. You mean to tell me that if I change the way I think about something, it will change it? That if I change my mindset, it can potentially change my whole life? YESSSS, my friend. It can.

Confident-MindsetListen, even the greatest leaders in the world have lack of self-confidence at certain points in their lives. Self-confidence is not a quality that you have, and that’s it, it stays forever. Self-confidence is a type of mindset that takes a lot of effort to maintain, specially when things get tough.

Some of the things that you can try to help you work on this mindset are:

behappy.jpgStop focusing on the negative and only allow positive energy in your life. If you think positive, positive things will come to you. Avoid the negative self-talk that can make you feel less confident. Smile, be happy and Surround yourself with positive people. This will help you feel better and those around you.

Learn how to replace negative thoughts with positive ones. Learn how to be aware of your self talk, the thoughts you have about yourself and the things that you are doing. If you are doing something and suddenly a negative thought pops in your head, KILL IT, then replace it with a positive one. This goes hand in hand with last week’s post about Daily Affirmations.

Take time to be thankful and grateful for the things in your life. Keeping a journal to write these down is also extremely helpful. It will help you develop a confident and peaceful state of mind. 

BeConfidentAct on it. Its one thing to think positively, but it is another when you actually put those thoughts into action. Have you heard of something like, “fake it ’til you make it”? This is what they mean by it. You have to act as if you have already achieved what you so deeply desire. So if what you really want is to be confident, then act like a confident person. Present yourself in a way that tell people you are ready to master any situation. If you look confident and act like it, not only will you feel like you’re in control, but people will have more confidence in you as well.

Dress the part. When you look better, you feel better. If you wear something that looks good and makes you feel good, it will automatically increase your self-esteem. Make sure to also speak with confidence. Fix your posture, stand tall and straight. This is such a simple thing, but it makes a huge difference in how people see you.

SmilePractice being self-confident on a daily basis and you’ll see how soon it will become second nature. Inaction only brings doubt and fear, while action brings confidence and courage.

You are what you think and do, so if you change your thoughts and actions to positive ones, you will become more positive. Put the right energy into your actions.

Changing your mindset is not easy, but it is one of the most powerful things you can do. First you need to learn to recognize your negative mindset and from there you will be empowered to make the necessary changes to start seeking out positive. If you do this, it can turn your entire life around.

How can Daily Affirmations help you on your everyday life?

Ok. So when I added this tip on my How To Become More Confident post, I knew some people were going to think it was odd. But trust me, it is as important as all the others.

positive-daily-affirmations.jpgI am talking about talking to yourself. This may sound crazy, but it works. No, not like you’re crazy. You’ll be doing what some people call, Daily Affirmations. Positive self talk can be a way of getting you through tough times.

When I first started, I did feel a bit weird. But the more I kept going, the more I was believing what I was saying to myself and the more confident I was feeling.

The way you talk to yourself influences the way you feel about yourself, and even the way you treat others. When you tell yourself I know what I need to do to … , you immediately change your mindset from seeing things as a challenge rather than a problem. Making you a lot more confident in what you are doing.

Self TalkHow to:

Take a few deep breaths. Stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself in the eyes. Smile if it feels natural. Say your affirmations. Slowly and clearly. Repeat them a few times, focusing on the meaning of each word. Take another deep breath allowing your body to absorb the positive feeling.

Some examples may include:

“I am ready, happy and willing to receive money.”

“I am attracting my soulmate and my life is full of love and joy.”

“I am overflowing with love, joy and positive energy.”

“I can do anything.”

“I am the healthiest I have ever been.”

“I am confident, capable, and achieving everything I set my mind to.”

“I am attracting a better, happier life every day.”

These affirmations are your new best friends, they are food for your soul. You can also write them down and stick them all over your house, to remind you of the amazing person you are. Make sure you also do them first thing in the morning. Just like a good breakfast is fuel to start the great day, positive affirmations are the daily fuel for your mind and spirit.

positive-affirmation_17-1.pngDaily affirmations will change the way you think about yourself and everything around you. It helps you boost your mood, helps perform better in things, it makes you aware of your thoughts, to know what you really want in life, helps reconnect with your feelings and enhance your perspective on the things in life.

Adding to talking to yourself, take care of yourself. Put on your favorite fragrance, groom yourself, take a nice long shower/bath, shave, nice makeup and dress nicely. You’ll not only smell delicious and look great, but it will for sure make you feel confident. You will feel like you are ready to tackle the world. And when you do it, tell yourself how amazing you look and feel.

So, now you know. Start being your own cheerleader, especially during times of stress or struggle. You’ll be less likely to focus on your failures when you do, and are perhaps more likely to learn from your mistakes. You’ll also have higher expectations for yourself.

Surround yourself with like minded people.

Have you ever sat down to think about each one of your friends and your relationship with them? How are they benefiting your life? What’s the value that they add to it?

StrongLadiesIf you still haven’t figured out the reason for asking yourself those questions, it is because people have a huge impact in your life. Therefore you need to know who you surround yourself with.

A few years ago, the type of friends I had were the ones who always wanted to go out, party, drink and spend money. Although this is not bad once in a while, it wasn’t what I needed in my life at the time. It wasn’t bringing any positivity into my life. So I completely changed my circle of influence, and the past few years have been nothing but positivity and growth for myself. Don’t get me wrong, I love every single one of my past and current friends, because they all taught me something and made me the person I am now. But now I have learned how to choose the right people to have around me. 

FamilyLike Jim Rohn says, “You are the average of the five people you spend the most time with.” So, Who are those people? What do their lives look like? What does yours look like? Is this how you want your life to stay?

Each person that comes into your life will have a purpose in it. Whether they come to stay or to teach you some type of life lesson. Some people will literally suck the life out of you, others will push you and motivate you to add more value to it.

Surround yourself with people who are always happy, positive, people who enrich your life. These are people that inspire you to be better, they provide motivation to achieve your goals, they empower you to make any necessary changes that you need to succeed and will always cheer you on your success. You will see how you will become more productive, organized, consistent, and excited about things.

  1. So write down the names of the people you spend the most time with.
  2. Write down their qualities.
  3. Would you say they add value to your life?
  4. Think about how they interact and affect you.
  5. Do they make you feel like you have what it takes to reach your goals?
  6. Do they support you?
  7. Do you feel happy or drained after spending time with them?

TeamRemember that you also attract what you are, you have to give off positive vibes and be confident. Be yourself. This will lead you to the right people for you. Let any negativity go. You’ll be less stressed and will find more joy in daily things.

So next time you need a boost, reach out to your inner circle, making sure that they are the right ones. Because not only do they make life more fun, but they improve both your self-confidence and self-worth.

It’s this simple…if it isn’t nourishing your mind, body, or soul, get rid of it!
